The term “Parenting by Connection” was coined by Patty Wipfler, Founder of Hand in Hand and author of the Listening to Children booklets. Parenting by Connection is an approach to parent child relationships that promotes the super-protective factor of parent-child connectedness. This specific kind of interaction between children and the adults who care about them has powerful implications. Kids who grow up with solid experiences of parent-child connectedness do better in life. They experience better health, better grades, better graduation rates, less violence, less drug use, less teen pregnancy and lower rates of suicide.
Parenting by Connection is very simple, but it’s not always easy. This blog is a place where parents who already use these tools can share their Success Stories and offer encouragement, inspiration and guidance to others who want to give their kids the best start in life possible. We want to give kids all over the world the super-protective factor that will allow them to experience good outcomes as well.
